Melissa Ellen Gilbert is an actress, TV director, and producer.Gilbert was born in Los Angeles, California on May 8, 1964. Unfortunately, she was abandoned by her parents at birth and adopted by Paul Gilbert. She started in the 1960s as a child actress, appearing in commercials and guest-starring in TV shows. She is best remembered as Laura Ingalls Wilder in the series Little House on the Prairie.

As an adult, Gilbert went on to lend her voice to the character of Barbara Gordon / Batgirl in Batman: The Animated Series. This was followed by a stage appearance for Little House on the Prairie, The Musical.In 2018, Gilbert and Timothy Busfield left their Michigan property and decided to call a moving company. This helped the process go much smoother. Although they moved to the Big Apple, Gilbert still cherishes their Little House in Michigan.
