George Robert Newhart, or Bob Newhart, is a stand-up comedian and actor, whose comedy albums The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart and The Button-Down Mind Strikes Back! found much success. These albums simultaneously held the number 1 and 2 positions on the Billboard chart. Newhart later went into acting for shows like The Bob Newhart Show. He also got voice-acting credit for Disney’s animated films, The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under.

Around 2013, Newhart was reported to have listed his Bel-Air mansion for $14.5 million – this being his second attempt after initially putting it in the market for $18.9 million back in 2006. One year later, the buyer demolished Bob’s house and freed up nearly 60,000 square feet of space. His French country estate is 9,100 sq. ft. and includes a large lagoon pool, an outdoor kitchen, and an entertainment area.
